Each week we will be learning new skills to help us master the game of chess. As well as learning tactics, strategies and playing chess, children will develop their competitive spirit and build their confidence. The children will be given exercises which consists of lessons and chess puzzles at different levels. Children work at their own pace and will experience different ways of playing chess.
Each child is also provided with a Chess Kids logon account to allow them to perfect their skills at home.
Alongside Chess Club – we run Times Tables Rockstars each week. Here, children can perfect their times tables skills. This helps children quickly recall multiplication and division facts, which is crucial for success in more complex maths. As children improve, they gain confidence in their abilities—something that often carries over into other areas of maths. With its game-based format, TTRS turns learning into a fun challenge. Children love earning coins, customising their rock avatar, and climbing the leaderboards.
