At Whinmoor St Paul’s we use Tapestry to provide our families with an online record of their children’s learning and progress during the year. Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us. We use Tapestry to share information and record the children’s play and learning in and outside of the classroom. We hope you enjoy the weekly round ups you will receive from our EYFS team that will support you to engage with the learning your child has taken part in and any support that families can offer at home.
Parents and carers are given their own log-in using their email. All our staff are given a secure log-iso they can then upload observations, photos or videos; recording children’s achievements and assessing their learning in reference to the EYFS curriculum. Once added to Tapestry, an email is automatically generated for parents/carers to set up a link to that child’s account and they are informed that an observation has been added so they can have a look and add any of their own comments to it. Parents/carers can also add their own observations of their child to share progress and milestones at home.
Whinmoor St Paul’s Early Years staff has access to all of the children’s Learning Journals. You will only have access to your child’s journal and this cannot be seen by other parents. However, children in the class will sometimes be photographed with others as they work together. For this reason, we will ask permission for your child to appear in photographs within other children’s Learning Journals. It is crucial that you DO NOT share photos or videos from your child’s journal on social media or through other online platforms. All parents/carers will be requested to sign a consent form and if there are any incidents where confidentiality is broken, these will result in access to the system being withdrawn.
