At Whinmoor St Paul’s, we nurture a caring and inclusive community where every child is valued as a unique child of God. Inspired by the teachings and example of Jesus, we encourage one another to “let our light shine”, showing kindness, love, courage and perseverance in all that we do. Through our learning, we develop a deep understanding of Christianity as a living faith, while also respecting and exploring the beliefs and worldviews of others.
We grow together in faith and understanding, reflecting on our own beliefs and learning to respect those of others. Rooted in our Christian vision, we strive to be compassionate, thoughtful and resilient individuals, prepared to respond to the opportunities and challenges of life with confidence and hope.
We learn together. We care for one another and we flourish together.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
Christian distinctiveness is woven through every aspect of life at Whinmoor St Paul’s Primary, shaping our relationships, daily experiences and our curriculum. Our school community lives out its Christian vision through collective worship, the way we care for one another and the example we set in our actions. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus, our core values guide and inspire all that we do.

Through our Religious Education and wider curriculum, pupils encounter Christianity as a living faith, while also developing understanding and respect for a range of beliefs and worldviews. In this way, every member of our school community is supported to grow spiritually, morally and socially, enabling them to flourish and “let their light shine” in all areas of life.
Collective Worship is at the heart of life at Whinmoor St Paul’s Primary, providing a meaningful opportunity for our school community to come together in reflection, prayer and praise. Rooted in our Christian vision, it is a special time where we explore and celebrate the values and beliefs that shape who we are.
Through engaging and inclusive acts of worship, children and adults are invited to reflect on the teachings of Jesus and how these guide our daily lives. Collective Worship strengthens our sense of belonging and supports the spiritual development of all, while remaining welcoming and respectful of those from different faiths and worldviews.
Each half-term, Collective Worship is centred around a key Christian value, which is explored in depth through whole-school and class-based worship. In addition, we explore weekly ‘Big Questions’, which are linked to our Christian values and Bible teachings. These questions encourage reflection, discussion and deeper thinking, and are shared through Collective Worship and displayed around school to promote ongoing conversations within our community.
Together, these experiences help us to live out our values in our relationships and actions each day, enabling all members of our school community to flourish.
Across Whinmoor St Paul’s Primary, our learning environment reflects our Christian vision and values. Displays around school celebrate different areas of the curriculum, with a clear emphasis on Christianity as a living faith, alongside respect for other beliefs and worldviews. Each classroom has an RE and Worldviews display and a quiet reflection area where children can think, respond and explore their ideas.
Our hall and classrooms include special spaces for worship, such as a reflection area with key Christian symbols like a Bible, cross and three candles. These areas support both whole-school and class-based Collective Worship, helping children to engage with the current value or ‘Big Question’, and to share prayers and reflections.
We also have outdoor reflection areas, which provide a calm and welcoming environment for prayer, reflection and small group worship. These spaces allow children and staff to connect with nature while taking time to pause, reflect and grow spiritually.
Together, these spaces support children in developing their understanding of faith, encouraging reflection and helping them to live out our Christian values each day.
At Whinmoor St Paul’s Primary, spirituality is at the heart of our Christian vision and is about helping every child to reflect, grow and flourish as a unique child of God. We understand spirituality as the opportunity to explore life’s “big questions”, develop a sense of awe and wonder, and build an understanding of ourselves, others and the world around us. This is nurtured through our Religious Education curriculum, Collective Worship and wider learning experiences, where children are encouraged to reflect on Christian teachings alongside other faiths and worldviews. Opportunities for prayer, reflection and discussion are carefully planned through weekly ‘Big Questions’, dedicated reflection spaces and meaningful learning across the curriculum. Spiritual development is important to us because it supports children in becoming thoughtful, compassionate and resilient individuals, equipped with the values and understanding they need to live well together and make a positive difference in the world.
