Leeds Learning Alliance

Our school is a committed member of the Leeds Learning Alliance (LLA), a city-wide partnership based on a schools’ Trust bringing together schools, colleges, universities, the local authority, charities, business and community organisations to improve outcomes for all children in Leeds.

The government’s Schools White Paper highlights the importance of schools working within strong local partnerships. Through our involvement in the Leeds Learning Alliance, we contribute to a locality-based system of school improvement, ensuring that we collaborate, share expertise and respond collectively to the needs of our community.

Working together for high standards

The Leeds Learning Alliance strengthens the quality of education through shared approaches to assessment and pedagogy.

Through this work, our school engages in:

• Nursery moderation – ensuring consistent and accurate early years assessment
• Reception moderation – developing shared expectations of progress and attainment
• Writing moderation – securing consistency in assessment across schools

This work ensures that standards are robust, comparable and continuously improving across our locality.

Strengthening SEND Provision

Improving outcomes for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a key priority.

We benefit from:

• SEN practice and provision triage sessions – collaborative problem-solving for complex needs
• SEN best practice networks – sharing effective strategies across schools
• Specialist SEND training – building staff expertise and confidence

This ensures our provision is inclusive, responsive and rooted in best practice.

Tackling disadvantage and improving inclusion

The alliance enables schools to better understand and respond to disadvantage within their own context.

This includes:

• Exploration of individual school disadvantage profiles using Unseen Children research
• Targeted discussions and shared strategies to address barriers to learning
• A strong focus on equity, inclusion and social justice across all workstreams

This supports us to take informed, strategic action to improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.

 

Developing Leadership at all Levels

The Leeds Learning Alliance provides high-quality leadership development opportunities across all career stages.

Opportunities include:

• Leadership networks – collaboration and shared practice
• DLP leadership development programme – structured training for emerging and established leaders
• Leadership breakfasts – developing wider leadership skills and local system knowledge
• Women’s leadership network – supporting and empowering female leaders across the system

This ensures strong leadership capacity both within our school and across the city.

Enhancing curriculum and enrichment

The alliance supports schools to develop rich and relevant curriculum opportunities. This includes:

• Forest School network – promoting outdoor learning and wellbeing
• CEIAG working party – developing a coherent careers curriculum from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4
• Cross-school curriculum collaboration – sharing expertise and effective approaches This ensures our curriculum is broad, ambitious and connected to real-world

Workforce development and shared training

The alliance strengthens workforce capacity through shared training and innovative partnerships.

Key opportunities include:

• Collaboration with Leeds universities – access to supply pools to support TA absence
• Shared training opportunities this year, include:
  • First Aid
  • Team Teach
  • Forest School First Aid

This supports staff development while ensuring consistency and quality across schools.

System leadership and locality working

Senior leaders within the Leeds Learning Alliance contribute to shaping education across Leeds.

This includes:

• Collaborative working with the local authority and key stakeholders
• Leadership of city-wide initiatives, including the development of social and emotional learning (SEL) provision
• Peace agenda working group – promoting values of inclusion, understanding and community cohesion

This reflects a strong commitment to place-based leadership and collective responsibility.

 

Inclusion, equality and community engagement

A central principle of the alliance is its commitment to equity and community engagement. Our involvement includes:

• Race and equity network – driving forward anti-racist practice and inclusive leadership
• Community engagement and equality work through CATCH
• A shared focus on reducing disadvantage and improving life chance. This ensures that inclusion is at the heart of all decision-making and practice.

Although we are not all part of the same Trust, the Leeds Learning Alliance provides many of the same benefits.

Through the alliance, we access:
